V-Day and SEX in Chicago

As all of you know, Valentine's Day was a couple days ago...and my single self just didn't feel like posting. I did get some lovely flowers however. The note said they were from a "Secret Admirer" which typically means my dad knew I wouldn't be getting flowers from anyone else, so he sent them. Apprently, he told my mum that he had done this and she made him call and make sure that I knew that there was no secret admirer, it was from my dad. Since my dad had called two days before asking for my address, I was fairly sure I would be getting V-day flowers from him, so no surprise. It cracks me up that my mum told my dad it was mean of him to send me flowers from "a secret admirer" when there is no such person. Ouch. Now that the story is over, I should at least say the flowers are beautiful, thanks "Secret Admirer".
So, instead of being a good student and attending all of my favorite classes on friday (math, science, etc) I went up to Chicago with my parents for some much needed ShopTherapy. My dad had a meeting or something so my mum and I spent entirely too long in Philene's Basement (a glorified TJ Maxx) and not nearly long enough in We'll Keep You in Stitches...you guessed it! A yarn store! (I'm sure she would say we spent too long in there but that's really why I agreed to go to Chicago...because I really hate Philene's Basement) I did spend a little too much money on a Stash Enriching eXpedition (the only kind of SEX I'm getting, and it was pretty damn good)

I bought my next pair of socks (ONline Supersocke 100 in colorway Holiday) and my next knitted T-shirt (new favorite thing to knit btw, will be royal blue in the beautiful and over-priced Zara) and my mum bought herself a future tank top (Spring break project more than likely) and it will be made out of Stacy Charles Posh, which the picture does not do justice.
On the way home I knitted on the Skittles: Knit the Rainbow tee and cast off the last stitch as my dad pulled into the parking lot to drop me off. I haven't got any good pictures yet...but I did get lots and lots of terrible ones that the world will never see. My friend is coming over later and I'm sure he'll help me out with sweater pictures so you guys can actually have a decent picture of it.

Okay then....I am off to do a shitload of homework so I can feel slightly better about skipping math yesterday.

FO alert and stash confessions

Firstly, my mum said she's figured out what her V-day present is. So I'll just post pictures. It turned out quite well considering I just kinda cast on and figured it out as I went. I will make another pair for myself with green and blue stripes, because I don't know what else to do with 1 skien of green and 1 skien of blue cashmerino baby.

Secondly, I came home last week and found the most terrifying thing. My stash is planning to take over the world. I found two pictures of the opposing sides (sock yarn vs. lace weight) scheming on opposite sides of the Colbert Report Blanket.
Note: Since this picture was taken, the baby pink cashmerino was knitted to death. This may possibly postpone thier plans to take over the world with ill-tempered mutated seabass (sorry Austen Powers) I will knit faster to stop thier world domination. Trekking: You're next. So put on your big girl panties and deal with it.

Hat Pics and a pattern!

I'm calling this the "Almost-Abercrombie" Hat.
(Thanks for taking pics Ben and Ben's roommate!)
And since I'm in a generous mood:
With worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 90 sts. Knit 8 rows in 1x1 twisted ribbing with MC. Knit 1 row. Switch to CC, knit 4 rows. Keep switching back and forth between MC and CC knitting 4 rows per stripe.
Decreasing:
Row 1: *K7, K2tog* to end of row.
Row 2: *K6, K2tog* to end of row.
Continue like this until 5 stitches remain, pull yarn through. Weave in ends and give to guy in need of hat. Force him to take embarassing pictures modeling said hat.

Broke my promise

I started another project. Okay...I started three...but I've already finished two of them. They were little (a hat and a small knitted heart...pictures later).

The third is a valentine's day present for my mummy...so I can't post any pictures until a) Valentine's day or b) they are finished and received in the mail by her. Hopefully nobody is going around and stealing parcels of hand knitted gifts in her neighborhood (hint #1).

I've put about 2.5 hours of work in it already (had to watch Sense and Sensibility for my Jane Austen class) and it's almost at a turning point (hint #2).

Keep checking for more hints until Valentine's day, or spoil the surprise and check Ravelry. Pictures aren't up there either, but I am in dire need of a photo-session for all things knitted.

Also, I rented Stardust last night (very cute, very very girly. Loved Robert DeNiro in it as the gay pirate) and am now thrilled to say that the Sprinkles shirt has sleeves!!! While they are just short sleeves, they are still sleeves, and since the sleeves are done, this means the rest of the sweater will most likely be completed very soon (after V-day surprise and Colbert Report Blanket, before Last Chance socks and Tomboy sweater. Way before anything else)

That's all for now. Wish I could make it to all the anti-Superbowl and pro-Superbowl knit-ins....but I have a math exam tomorrow that needs studied for.

Happy knitting to all and to all a tolerable superbowl.

You're going down, Brady.
